Adding Customers

Creating a new customer

  1. Navigate to Customers in the sidebar
  2. Click the Add Customer button
  3. Fill in the customer details

Required fields

  • Customer name -- The business or individual's name
  • Customer type -- Categorize the customer (e.g., Office, Retail, Individual). See Customer Types

Service scheduling

  • Service days -- Select which days of the week this customer is serviced (Sunday through Saturday)
  • Service frequency -- How often the customer is serviced, based on your company's cycle length
  • Week pattern -- Which weeks in the cycle this customer is active (e.g., Week 1 only, or Weeks 1 and 3)
Important

Setting service days and week patterns is essential for the route builder. Plantrunner uses this information to automatically suggest which locations should be grouped together on routes. Without it, the route builder can't match locations to the correct days and weeks.

Optional fields

  • Contact name -- Primary contact person at the customer
  • Contact email -- Email address for the contact
  • Phone number -- Phone number for the contact
  • Start date -- When you started servicing this customer
  • End date -- If the customer is no longer active
  • Mailing address -- Start typing to search for an address. Plantrunner uses address search to geocode and store the full address and coordinates
  • Assigned employees -- Select one or more employees to assign to this customer

After creating a customer

Once saved, you'll typically want to:

  1. Add service locations -- Customers often have multiple sites. See Managing Locations
  2. Add the locations to a route -- See Creating Routes

Editing a customer

Open the customer's detail page and click Edit. All fields can be modified. Changes take effect immediately after saving.

Deleting a customer

On the customer edit form, click Delete. A confirmation dialog will appear. Deleting a customer removes all associated locations, but existing service visit records are preserved for historical reference.

warning

Deleting a customer cannot be undone. Consider setting an end date instead to mark the customer as inactive while preserving the full record.
