Route Management
Routes define the sequence of customer locations your technicians visit on a given day. Plantrunner calculates driving times, optimizes waypoint order, and displays routes on an interactive map.
Routes page
The main Routes page shows a table of all your routes with:
- Route name
- Assigned employee
- Number of waypoints
- Schedule (days of week and week pattern)
- Total route time (driving + service)
- Active/inactive status
Use the search bar to find routes -- search works across route name, assigned employee, and other fields. Filter by assigned employee to narrow results.
What makes up a route
Each route consists of:
- A name -- Descriptive label (e.g., "Tuesday - Midtown", "Thursday - West Side")
- A start location -- Either your company office or a specific customer location
- Waypoints -- An ordered list of customer locations to visit
- An assigned employee -- The technician who services this route
- A schedule -- Which days and weeks the route runs
Route calculations
Plantrunner calculates and displays three time metrics for each route:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Driving time | Total time spent driving between locations |
| Service time | Sum of estimated service durations at each waypoint |
| Total route time | Driving time + service time |
These values update automatically when you add, remove, or reorder waypoints, or when you optimize the route.
