Check-in / Check-out
The check-in and check-out process is how Plantrunner tracks when and where your technicians are performing service.
Checking in
When a technician arrives at a customer location:
- Navigate to the service visit (from the route or Service Visits page)
- Select the customer location for the visit
- Click Check In
- The current time is recorded as the check-in time
- The visit status changes to In progress
After checking in, the technician can log tasks, write notes, and take photos while the visit is active.
Checking out
When the technician finishes their work:
- Click Check Out
- The current time is recorded as the check-out time
- The visit status changes to Completed
- The total duration is calculated
Duration tracking
The visit duration is automatically calculated as the difference between check-in and check-out times. This appears on the visit detail page and in the Service Visits table.
Admin notifications
When configured, admins receive push notifications when employees:
- Check in at a location
- Check out from a location
This provides real-time visibility into field operations without requiring manual status updates.
Editing visit times
Admins can edit check-in and check-out times after the fact if corrections are needed (e.g., a technician forgot to check out). Visit the service visit detail page and modify the times.
Employees can only create and view their own visits. Only admins and route admins can edit visits or view all visits across the company.
Mobile usage
On the mobile app, the check-in/check-out interface is optimized for quick one-tap operation. The app provides haptic feedback on check-in and check-out actions. See Field Worker Guide for the mobile workflow.
